The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (PRB) constitute Britain’s first modern art movement. The society was founded in 1848 in London, coinciding with Queen Victoria’s reign (1837-2901). The main members are John Everett Millais, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and William Holman Hunt.

The Pre-Raphaelites were students at the «Royal Academy of Arts» who rebelled against the art establishment of their day and decided to take inspiration from the early Renaissance until the time of Raphael. They were particularly fascinated by medieval and mythical symbolism, Shakespeare, the Bible and landscapes. This all happened during the new Industrial Revolution, which made it even more visible.

This is the last weekend to visit the PRB exhibition!
